Aliyah Warwick
Aliyah Warwick j(she/her) oined the MFA in Creative Writing at MIU in 2021 and started working as the program administrator for the MIU English Department a few months later. She enjoys the challenge of utilizing organizational skills to help the department run smoothly while simultaneously taking creative leaps through poetry and creative nonfiction. Aliyah is inspired by poets like Jane Hirshfield, Sharon Olds, Danusha Laméris, Louise Glück, Joy Harjo, and others. She likes to dabble in dance, puppetry, Dungeons and Dragons and languages like Italian and Swedish.
Her most recent publications are in Lothlorien Poetry Journal, Inklette, and coming up in December, Poetry South. You can find an essay she wrote about her experience learning Italian in Zenith Literary Magazine, volume 2, and she also co-edited and is anthologized in Conestoga Zen: Volume II - Wayfarers and Lightbearers. Aliyah is studying dual genre, poetry and creative nonfiction. She plans to graduate in 2023.
